Laboratory Animal Medicine Seminar
Dr. Brown is a Veterinarian working at the University of Calgary in the Life and Environmental Sciences Animal Resources Centre, where he is responsible for the veterinary care of many mice, rats, and rabbits, as well as fish and amphibians. Dr. Brown completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Calgary, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Ecology. He then worked in research for a number of years, before returning to university to complete a DVM through the University of Calgary's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
He will be presenting on veterinary medicine specific to laboratory animals, with topics such as colony health as opposed to individual client health, specifics of medicine on such small animals, ethics, and more. He will also talk a bit about his road to veterinary medicine, and the unique aspects of entering the DVM as a more mature student, rather than directly from a Bachelor of Science program.
