Mascot Request Form information – Ekho
Ekho, the mascot, proudly represents the university and careful consideration is given on where, when, and why Ekho makes appearances.
The primary role of the mascot is to represent CSU Channel Islands, promote team clubs, galvanize the crowd, and cheer on the event. In addition, actively support and extend the mission and knowledge of CSU Channel Islands and its Wellness & Athletics programs.
CSU Channel Islands Associated Students Incorporated (ASI), reserves the right to refuse any appearance. All requests for specific appearances will be left at the discretion of Associated Students Incorporated (ASI). ASI will decide if any appearance conflicts with its best interests.
Appearances are subject to availability and are on a first-come, first served basis.
All appearance requests must be submitted at least three (3) weeks prior to the requested date of appearance. Requests can be submitted online through the ASI website or CISYNC. Submitting a request does not guarantee an appearance. In the event that an appearance must be cancelled, ASI must be provided notice three (3) days prior. All requests will receive a confirmation email with the status of the request.
Appearance fees vary based on the type of appearance and on a case-by-case basis. ASI personnel will notify requestor of any pertinent fees.
Mileage and Parking Fees:
Appearances out-of-area, defined as 20 + miles from the CSU Channel Islands campus, will require the requestor to pay the university mileage rate directly to the mascot making the appearance. Reimbursement for incurred parking fees is also the responsibility of the requestor. Any mileage fees and/or parking reimbursement are to be sent to ASI personnel through appropriate Financial Services forms.
There is a one (1) hour time limit for appearances. Any requests that require more than an hour can be discussed with the ASI Facility Specialist. The mascot costume is not available for rental. Ekho is not allowed at events with alcohol. Our mascot employees are CI students and Ekho’s availability is dependent on class schedules. Ekho is required to have a guide at all requests. This guide will be provided by ASI and serves as an interpreter for Ekho. A private and secure changing room must be provided for Ekho to change and keep belongings locked during the appearance. Water, preferably bottled, must be provided to the Ekho by the requestor. The mascot employee cannot be required to be inside the costume for longer than a maximum of one hour at a time before taking a break. If the appearance is outdoors, extra breaks are required during that allotted time. Ekho is unable to perform in severe weather. A friendly and safe environment must be maintained. Ekho reserves the right to walk away from any appearance deemed unsafe or harmful and refunds (if applicable) will not be provided.
