Grow as a Leader | PCEI Nature Center Ambassadors (Transportation Provided)
This community engagement opportunity is offered in partnership with The Leadership Center's Grow as a Leader Summer Program.
The mission of PCEI is to increase citizen involvement in decisions that affect our region's environment. Through hands-on volunteering, students will increase their awareness in the areas of watershed restoration, environmental education, and sustainable living.
Opportunity: Students will have the opportunity to learn about their connection to self, others and the community by assisting PCEI staff with beautifying the 26.2 acre PCEI Nature Center-- a public, open space facility. Tasks may include wood chipping pathways, breaking new trail, managing invasive plant species, setting up for an event and more.
Location: CUB L45
Days/Times: Transportation will be provided. Please meet in the CCE Student Resource Center located in the CUB Lower Level L45 at 9:30 AM to meet with your group. We plan to return to campus around 12:30 PM
Requirements: Please dress appropriately for working outdoors. Closed toed shoes, sun protection/ or rain gear and water are recommended.
Service hours are allocated based on amount of direct service participation and do not include meeting time and transportation to/from the service site. Students can expect to receive approximately 2.5 hours of service.
The CCE strives to sponsor activities that are accessible to all students. If you need accommodations to fully access the activities offered through the Center for Civic Engagement, please contact Jessica Perone, Community Programs Coordinator, at 509-335-4609 or firstname.lastname@example.org at least one week prior to the activity.
