Food Pantry Food Recovery Repackaging (CCE Transportation Provided)
Organizational Information: Community Action Center (CAC) empowers people and communities of Whitman County to be self-sustaining by promoting the self-reliance of people with low to moderate income. In collaborations with WSU Dining, the CAC receives food recovered from WSU dining centers that will then be repackaged into individual/family servings and then given to those who use the pantry.
Opportunity Description: Students will participate in repackaging recovered foods into individual/family servings to be given out at the CAC's food pantry distribution times. Students will be supervised by CAC trained staff/volunteers in order to ensure safe handling procedures.
Location: Transportation will be provided. Please meet in the CUB Lower Level L38 at 2:30 PM to meet with your group. We plan to return to campus around 5:00 PM.
Requirements: Service hours are allocated based on the amount of direct service participation and do not include meeting time and transportation to/from the service site. Students can expect to receive approximately 2 hours of service. Please let CCE staff know if you are unable to participate at least 24 hours before the project meeting time.
Please dress appropriately for the weather with close-toed shoes.
**You will need to bring your Cougar Card to swipe into this project so your service hours can be recorded.**
The CCE strives to sponsor activities that are accessible to all students. If you need accommodations to fully access the activities offered through the Center for Civic Engagement, please contact Natalie Robinson, Community Programs Coordinator, at 509-335-4609 or email@example.com at least one week prior to the activity.
