Stream Restoration | Whitman Conservation District **Transportation NOT Provided**

Opportunity Description: Students MUST contact Brian Bell at brianwhitmancd@gmail.com PRIOR to attending this opportunity. Students will be working on the stream restoration project. Work will include planting trees/shrubs, fixing/maintaining plant protector tubes, pruning, and weeding around plants. The Whitman Conservation District takes available technical, financial and educational resources, whatever their source, and focus or coordinate them so they meet the needs of the local land user for conservation of soil, water and related resources.

Orphan Acres Ranch Hand | CCE Transportation Provided

Opportunity Description: **You will need to bring your Cougar Card to swipe into this project so your service hours can be recorded. ** Students will assist with the daily care and socializing of the horses at Orphan Acres. Activities will include feeding, walking, and grooming horses, as well as maintenance tasks, including cleaning stalls or facilities. Please dress appropriately for working with horses and being outdoors. Closed toed shoes are required and sturdy rubber boots are recommended. Wear warm clothing and bring water. Bring water and snacks.

PCEI Nature Center Ambassadors | CCE Transportation Provided

Opportunity Description: **You will need to bring your Cougar Card to swipe into this project so your service hours can be recorded.** Students will be assisting PCEI staff with beautifying the 26.2 acre PCEI Nature Center-- a public, open space facility. Tasks may include wood chipping pathways, breaking new trail, managing invasive plant species, setting up for an event and more. Please dress appropriately for working outdoors. Closed toed shoes, sun protection/ or rain gear and water are recommended.

Recycling Outreach Campus to Community | CCE Transportation Provided

Opportunity Description: **You will need to bring your Cougar Card to swipe into this project so your service hours can be recorded. ** Students will collect donated clothing items from university housing facilities. The donated items are delivered to Harvest House for the members to utilize. Please dress appropriately, tasks will include moderate lifting and interacting with people with mental illnesses.

General Assistance | Palouse Bicycle Collective **Transportation NOT Provided**

Opportunity Description: Students MUST wear clothes that they don’t mind getting dirty and easy to move in. Students will assist with many tasks while at Palouse Bicycle Collective, from taking apart bikes to organizing the parts shed.

Opportunity Description: **You will need to bring your Cougar Card to swipe into this project so your service hours can be recorded.** Students will participate in repackaging recovered foods into individual/family servings to be given out at the CAC's food pantry distribution times. Students will be supervised by CAC trained staff/volunteers in order to ensure safe handling procedures.

Opportunity Description: We are looking for volunteers to converse, walk around with and spend time with our very special residents.  We are going be having a building wide Arts event and would like help from volunteers to accompany our enhanced care residents, just sit and chat with them during the event or do some crafts.

Stormwater Services | Pet Station Support | CCE Transportation Provided

Opportunity Description: **You will need to bring your Cougar Card to swipe into this project so your service hours can be recorded.** Students will support the city of Pullman's efforts to eliminate pet waste from contaminating local streams by refilling the pet waste stations with recycled grocery bags. In addition, students will assist with monitoring detention ponds and adopt-a-stream signage throughout Pullman. Please dress appropriately for working outdoors. Students should wear comfortable shoes for walking, sun protection/ or rain gear and water are recommended.

Downtown Clean-up and Storm Drain Placards | City of Moscow **Transportation NOT Provided**

Opportunity Description: Students MUST contact Kelli Cooper prior to attending event by email at kcooper@ci.moscow.id.us or by phone at 208-883-7122. Join the City of Moscow for this community-wide volunteer event, rain or shine. Volunteers will be cleaning up the downtown area of Moscow and installing “Drains to Stream” placards near storm drain catch basins. These placards help citizens identify connections to the storm sewer system.  Storm sewers route water directly, with no treatment, to our creeks and rivers, making public awareness imperative in order to preserve water quality and protect aquatic life. This event is scheduled to take place rain or shine so please dress appropriately, including close-toed shoes. Instructions for installation of the placards will be provided on-site.  Lunch will be provided!

2018 Spring Clean Up & Prep | Pullman Community Garden **Transportation NOT Provided**

Opportunity Description: Students will be assisting with the spring cleanup and prep for the season. Please provide your own gloves and wear clothes that are able to get dirty. Other tools will be provided. Students will be working outside and should dress accordingly in close-toed shoes or boots and long pants. Gloves will not be provided, please bring your own if necessary. Should the weather be sunny, sunscreen is advised. Students are welcome to help at any time that they can.

14th Annual Pullman Stream Clean-Up | CCE Transportation Provided

Opportunity Description:  Please dress appropriately for working outdoors. Closed toed shoes, sun protection/ or rain gear and water are recommended. Join PCD and City of Pullman Stormwater Services for this annual community stewardship event to keep Pullman clean and green. Participants will be assigned to a stream section and remove garbage and recyclables from local waterways and adjacent paths. Dress for the weather! Three Forks Wayside-Landscape Maintenance | Pullman Civic Trust **Transportation NOT Provided**

Opportunity Description: The City Stormwater services and Palouse Conservation District will host the Spring Stream Clean Up. Pullman Civic Trust has a length of stream assigned from Spring Street Park along the stream to Whitman Street. We also maintain landscapes at the Pine Street Waterfall and the Three Forks Wayside. Landscape maintenance will include weed removal, bark spreading, edging of landscape beds and litter removal. Students should dress for the weather. We will be working along the banks of the stream, so muddy conditions may be present. Work type gloves are recommended for both the stream clean up and the landscape maintenance. Use of hand tools (provided) in the landscape areas may be necessary. Lunch will be provided at Reaney Park.

White Spring Ranch Museum/Archive | CCE Transportation Provided

Please dress appropriately for working outdoors, warm clothing and closed toed required.

Hillside Clean-Up of Missouri Flat Creek and College Hill Climb Paths | College Hill Association **Transportation NOT Provided**

Opportunity Description: Participants will clean off a steep hillside area. A dumpster will be provided for bagged trash and larger items. Participants must wear weather-appropriate work clothes and closed-toe shoes or boots with good traction. Long pants, long sleeves, hats, and eye protection (like sunglasses) would all be good wardrobe choices as this is a brushy area. If you have work gloves, bring them.

Opportunity Description: **You will need to bring your Cougar Card to swipe into this project so your service hours can be recorded.** Students will be assisting with trail maintenance at Idler's Rest Nature Preserve along with other areas of land on Moscow Mountain. Please dress appropriately for working outdoors. Sturdy, closed-toed shoes are required.  Gloves, hats, long-sleeves, long pants, sun protection are recommended. Bring lunch, snacks, and plenty of water.
