It's Veterans Awareness Week!
Nov 10, 2014 by Marina P Gross
The Veterans and Family Student Association (VFSA) is proud to host 2014's Veterans Awareness Week.
We have a ton of events going on this week that all have one goal in mind: Spread awareness of Student Veteran issues and connect with all students on our UO campus. Here are some highlights:
1) Sign postcards to currently deployed service members.
Monday - Wednesday, November 10-12, 10am to 3 pm, EMU Upper Amphitheater
Would you like a free "I support UO Student Veterans" T-Shirt? Simply like us on Facebook, and follow us on Twitter and Instagram. We are also handing out service-related rubber Ducks in exchange for a Facebook Like. Simply stop by our table (while supplies last).
2) National Remembrance Roll Call
Tuesday, November 11, 8 am - 5 pm, EMU Amphitheater
Join us as we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice by reading their names. Would you like to be a reader? A few 15-minute spots remain: http://uodos.uoregon.edu/nationalrollcall.aspx
3) Official University Veterans Day Recognition Ceremony
Tuesday, November 11, 11am, Agate Hall Auditorium
Join University officials in the UO's official Veterans Day Recognition Ceremony. Refreshments!
4) Resume Workshop
Wednesday, November 12, 12pm - 2 pm, EMU South, Student Veteran Center
Get started on translating your military expertise to civilian language. The workshop will be led by Clarice Wilsey of the UO Career Center and Scott Nowicki from StateFarm.
5) Lunch Hosted by the Veterans and Family Student Association
Thursday, November 13, 12pm - 2pm, EMU South Lower Level, near Student Veteran Center
Get to know your Student Veterans over an informal lunch. Free food!
Join us in celebrating your fellow students, and Go Ducks!
