The Synthetic Biology Club is devoted to bringing the study of the field of Synthetic Biology to Wright State. Each year we will hold regular journal club meetings, sponsor an undergraduate team to compete in the International Genetically Engineered Machines (iGEM) competition, and potentially sponsor visiting lecturers in the subject.

Synthetic Biology is the field of applying engineering principles to biological systems creating artificial systems within living cells. Each year we will explore a particular topic in synthetic biology and decide collectively on a project to exemplify that topic. This project will include designing, modeling, and building a novel genetic system we can insert into our model cell. Members will have the opportunity to publish their results, and undergraduate members can present the results of their projects at the iGEM Jamboree annually.
