Welcome to Loras College Judo, the oldest Judo club in Iowa! Judo is a Japanese martial art concerned with throwing and mat techniques, including chokes and armbars. Judo at Loras has been learned and practiced by both women and men since 1961. Physical size is not a limiting factor. Judo is an excellent means of self-defense. Judo increases flexibility, coordination, balance, self-confidence and improves your physical condition. In Judo you may compete against other people at tournaments across the Midwest (competition is optional). No previous experience required. Experienced Judokas are welcome. Practice is two nights a week (Tuesday and Thursday) from 7:15-9:00 p.m. Judo is a physical contact sport. Safety is stressed in classroom teaching. Therefore you assume your own risk in participating. Practices are in 208 Graber Sports Center (wrestling room). Wear workout clothes. For more information, contact Terry Smith at (563)-556-2352.
The Loras College Judo Club is an organization that fosters the interest in Judo and the martial arts. It affords students the opportunity for physical exercise, competition and self defense.
