Organization Overview


The American Chemical Society (ACS) is the world’s largest scientific society, with more than 155,000 members. The Loras College student affiliate of the ACS is open to all students interested in chemistry! Goals of the Loras College ACS affiliate include: to acquaint students with field of chemistry, to foster a professional spirit among members, to instill a professional pride in the sciences, to foster awareness of the responsibilities and challenges modern scientists encounter, and most importantly, to have fun! Some of the activities of this organization are: the chemistry tutoring program, Boy Scout chemistry Merit Badge Day, field trips to chemical companies, Chemistry Olympics, cooking with chemistry, and trips to ACS local and national meetings (in cities such as New Orleans)!
