Furman finishes as Gold Bracket runners-up in Volunteer Classic

Furman competed in the 2nd annual Volunteer Classic, hosted by the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN, this past weekend of February 15 & 16. Against a field made up of 31 other teams from 18 different schools, Furman made it to the gold bracket finals, losing to UGA-B (20-24).
In round robin play, Furman beat Virginia Tech-B but came up short against UGA-A, the defending national champions. Furman's success in pool play placed the team in the Gold bracket, where the team made it all the way to the finals, beating Belmont-A, MTSU, and eventually losing a nail biter to UGA-B. The team consisted of Katie Foster (Fr.) and Marybeth Snodgrass (Sr.) playing women's doubles, Brittany Griffin (Fr.) playing women's singles, James Gao (Jr.) and Andrew Kantor (Sr.) playing men's doubles, Andrew Kantor (Sr.) playing men's singles, and Michael Rabb (Sr.) and Jaclyn De Boer playing mixed doubles.
The team travels this upcoming weekend to Auburn to compete in the Southern Sectionals, with a bid to Nationals in Surprise, AZ on the line. Go Dins!
