One of the richest parts of Caribbean Culture is the folklore and stories that are interwoven with the holidays, beliefs, and morals of the Caribbean people. All children who grew up in the Caribbean or with parents who were from there know that the stories told always have cultural morals, which are very formative. We want to share these stories with BC students at this event. We will have eboard members read stories and have the audience and other eboard members act them out togeher using some props we provide. We want to connect this event to the Jamaica service trip that Father Michael leads. Since they go to teach children in 2nd grade, we will ask all the audience members to write a short card to a child in the Caribbean with a story from their own childhood. There are many American folk tales also, and we want the audience to share them with the Caribbean kids. We need stationary and materials to provide them with. Since Father Michael is our advisor, he will bring these cards with him when he leads the trip, so we do not need to mail them. We hope to develop a strong tie and relaitonship between the CCC and the Jamaica service trip. This event will serve as the beginning of that relationship.
