Delta Epsilon Sigma
Delta Epsilon Sigma (DES) is a national honor society that is in place at Catholic colleges and universities, whose mission is to recognize academic accomplishments, foster scholarly activities, and encourage a sense of intellectual community among its members, though members need not be Catholic. Students are invited to join if they are juniors or seniors and have a GPA of at least 3.7. Faculty is invited on the basis of a nomination process, length of service to Loras and contributions to the lives of students and to the academic atmosphere. Loras’ chapter, Alpha, co-sponsors a literary publication with the English program (The Limestone Review) and sponsors a writing contest each year. In addition, the national office offers several scholarships and other awards to qualified members. For more information about The Limestone Review, contact Dr. Kevin Koch at (563) 588-7536. For other matters pertaining to the society, contact Dr. Matthew Garrett at (563) 588-7165.
