Delta Epsilon Sigma (DES) is a national honor society that is in place at Catholic colleges and universities, whose mission is to recognize academic accomplishments, foster scholarly activities, and encourage a sense of intellectual community among its members, though members need not be Catholic. Students are invited to join if they are juniors or seniors and have a GPA of at least 3.7. Faculty is invited on the basis of a nomination process, length of service to Loras, and contributions to the lives of students and to the academic atmosphere. Loras’ chapter, Alpha, co-sponsors a literary publication with the English program (The Limestone Review), and sponsors a writing contest each year.
