IML Tour

The Location

The Idaho Microfabrication Laboratory (IML) at Boise State University is a research and education resource dedicated to the research and advancement of materials and processes used in micro & nano electronics design and fabrication.

The IML consists of a small gowning room, a 900 ft2 Class 1000 cleanroom, a 1500 ft2 process lab, and a 900 ft2 additive manufacturing lab. The IML is equipped to fabricate microelectronic and flexible devices using various thin film deposition techniques, chemical processing, photolithography, plasma etching, and micro-dispensing material printers.

TOMORROW: Dr. Loo: DIY 5kW Grid-Tied Solar Photovoltaic System

Abstract

Solar photovoltaic (PV) can be very cost-effective. What does it take to install a system? This talk will give you the overview from design to grid-tied the system. The system to be discussed was installed in May 2014. At this writing, the 5kW PV system has produced over 34 MWh. The cost of install was $1.08 per watt after 30% federal tax incentive
