Food Science Club
Welcome to the Food Science Club! We love food and food is what we do best! The FS club is a great way to meet other students in the program as well as getting involved with IFT (Institute of Food Techonologists) which is our national organization. Having a connection with IFT leads to many great networking experiences and job opportunities. It's also a head start to meeting professionals in the industry, as well as potential future employers and collegues! Our main fundraising event is the North Idaho Chili Cook-off which is held annually during Ag Days in the Fall. We love getting the community involved as well as other students, faculty, and staff on campus! We have two annual trips we go on as a club to Portland and Sun Valley. Portland is right at the beginning of spring semester and Sun Valley happens around mid-March. On these trips we get to tour several food companies, check out food/processing expos, and mingle with different people from the food industry. These are definitely fun experiences and the club supports multiple students to go on these trips! Students can also choose to compete on product development teams as well as college bowl. This is an interactive way to apply the knowledge of food science to real world applications! Winning teams can be selected to compete at the national IFT convention held annually in June! There are many opportunities to win cash prizes as well as gain recognition among fellow peers, faculty, and professionals from the food industry! Other events we do as a club are attend IFT-suppliers nights, guest speakers, food demos/potlucks, and other social gatherings! We also do many social events with Washington State University since we are a joint program! If you love food as much as we do, you're in the right place! Come check us out!
