Since the group's inception in 1993, the Boston College Acoustics have performed out way into the hearts, souls and femurs of many a listener with their fun, quirky and theatrical brand of a cappella. A group rich in weird traditions and family values, the Acoustics are shamelessly and unconditionally in love with one another and with the music we make together. We have been blessed by the contributions of almost 150, mostly human members...a number which continues to grow each semester. We "stix" pride ourselves on the diversity of our repertoire, wailing away on 70s rock, 80s pop, 90s jams, and millennial miscellany. The group has arranged the works of Lady Gaga, The Who, Carrie Underwood, Aerosmith, Jason Mraz, The Beatles, Justin Timberlake, Alanis Morissette, Adele and Usher, among many others. We have released a total of eight studio albums. The most recent, Sounds from a Stairwell, was released in the fall of 2011. The Stix are gearing up to release our ninth album, How to Play Checkers, this coming year. Where the Acoustics really blossom (if we do say so ourselves) is outside the studio. In the spring of 2012, we embarked on a Spring Break tour, hitting New York City, Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia and singing at numerous benefit concerts, university invitational shows and hospital visits on our way. We take no greater pleasure than bringing people happiness with our music, especially those who need it most, so experiences of serving the Boston community and beyond are among the most cherished for the group. On campus, the Acoustics croon at many venues, including numerous benefits and “café” concerts. Starting from our legendary performances in "Cafe Starbucks" (the Chocolate Bar used to be a Starbucks! Who knew?), the Stix have kept the tradition alive for twenty years by putting on one ridiculously themed café each semester, showcasing our full repertoire and full capacity to write and perform bad skits. While thanking their fans, the Acoustics would also like to encourage them to "fire it up!" at all times. ?

The Acoustics of Boston College is an extracurricular a cappella singing group designed to instruct in the art of a cappella singing, and to mesh this style of performing with theater that will add to the singers’ presence on stage. Performances will vary from the traditional style of a cappella by the addition of movement on stage instead of standing in choral formation. The Acoustics will add to the diversity of musical organizations available on campus, but will also emphasize performances off campus in the city of Boston and the surrounding community. Music performed by The Acoustics will vary, but will have an emphasis on songs that can be performed theatrically as well as musically.
