Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. is an active, dynamic international social/service organization of diverse collegiate and professional men united in a Cause to bring more Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service to the world. Since its founding on January 9, 1914 at Howard University, the Fraternity has provided 100 years of service to communities through its 700 chapters worldwide. The official motto of the Fraternity, "Culture for Service and Service to Humanity", is demonstrative of the outward focus of Sigmas in serving the community by working as a part of the community and not apart from the community. Because of the inclusive nature of Phi Beta Sigma, the organization became deservedly tagged with the nickname of "The People's Fraternity" .
The Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity at the University of North Alabama is called the Beta Beta Alpha Chapter. We always welcome inquiries about membership by those who have good character, academic success, an interest in the welfare of society. Interested UNA men from any nationality, religion, or race are welcomed to request more information about Phi Beta Sigma. Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity follows a strict policy regarding a professional, dignified Intake Process with absolutely no hazing. An Interest Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, September 18, 2016.
We are very interested in networking and collaborating with other organizations and individuals at the University of North Alabama campus toward endeavors and goals that are related to our Fraternity's founding Principles of Service to Humanity, Scholarship/Academic/Personal development, and the spirit of Brotherhood among all Humankind.

Sigma Brothers enjoy a life-long association that inspires good-will, serving, learning. It offers opportunities for professional development, leadership training, event planning, participation in progressive and innovative programs, first-class social functions, opportunities for community involvement, and an international network of brothers, as well as sisters, because Phi Beta Sigma and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority are constitutionally bound organizations.
Sigmas work in unity to advance a variety of human causes, including leadership in civil and equal rights issues, better health, education, youth mentoring, economic betterment, job opportunities and internships, support in disasters and crises, and service to communities and those in need. The diversity of SIGMA's membership (in nationality, race, and religion) testifies how inclusion, rather than exclusion, is the ethical foundation of Sigma's Cause. Sigma men have been high achievers, esteemed scholars, movers and shakers of their time, men of vision, men of culture, men of service, and men of leadership.

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity is a brotherly organization of collegiate and professional men working to bring more Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service to the world. Known as the Sigmas, and sporting the Blue and White, the Fraternity is involved in a variety of endeavors to contribute to UNA campus life and to society. The Beta Beta Alpha Chapter at UNA seeks to continue its excellence in academics, leadership, service, and the promotion of an inclusive brotherhood. "Culture for Service and Service for Humanity" has been the Fraternity's motto since it was founded in 1914.

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity at UNA welcomes membership applications for the Fall Semester 2016. The Chapter seeks individuals with good character and high integrity, who value community service and getting an education. Applicants are required to have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 (no minimum credit hours).
The Sigmas welcome Applicants who are detailed-oriented, civic-minded, ambitious, creative, ready to serve, eager to work, able to cooperate with others, who value teamwork and unity and the Principles of Sigma, and who respect women, culture, and all the diversity of humanity. The Fraternity's Constitution states that we do not discriminate in national origin, race, or religion. The Sigmas at UNA strictly follow a dignified Intake Process which involves NO hazing. Anyone interested is invited to contact the Fraternity or the Office of Student Engagement for information about plans for the next Intake Process of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.
