Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. is an international values-based social/service organization of diverse collegiate and professional men based on the principles of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service.  Since its founding on January 9, 1914 at Howard University, the Fraternity has provided 100 years of service to communities through its 700 chapters worldwide.  The official motto of the Fraternity,  "Culture for Service and Service to Humanity", is demonstrative of the outward focus of Sigmas in serving the community by working as a part of the community and not apart from the community.  Because of the inclusive nature of Phi Beta Sigma, the organization became deservedly tagged with the nickname of "The People's Fraternity" .

The Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity at the University of North Alabama is called the Beta Beta Alpha Chapter.    Interested UNA men from any nationality, religion, or race are welcomed to request more information about joining Phi Beta Sigma.   Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity proudly offers a professional, dignified Intake Process with absolutely no hazing.  An Interest Meeting is scheduled for September 2018.  Please contact us for details.

PHI BETA SIGMA FRATERNITY, Inc, is a unique international organization of college and professional men unified through the principles of brotherhood, scholarship, and service. Since its founding on January 9, 1914 at Howard University, Phi Beta Sigma has had roles in a variety of benevolent causes, including leadership in civil and equal rights issues, health, education, youth mentoring, economic betterment, and service to communities and those in need. "Culture for Service and Service for Humanity" is the official Motto of the Fraternity. As the constitutionally-bound brother-organization of the sisters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., SIGMAS have an invested interest in safeguarding the dignity, well-being, and advancement of women. The diversity of SIGMA's membership (in nationality, race, and religion) testifies how inclusion, rather than exclusion, is the ethical foundation of Sigma's Cause. Sigma men have been high achievers, esteemed scholars, movers and shakers of their time, men of vision, men of culture, men of service, and men of leadership. The Brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity are inspired by the Fraternity's founding principles of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service, that unite us toward a life-long Cause of noble Ideals for the betterment of humanity. Programs of the Fraternity can help its members and the UNA student body enjoy personal development and growth in leadership skills, academic achievement, economic competency, health improvement, and training for innovative contributions to society, and opportunities for service to humanity and for those in need.

In order to make a difference in the world, Phi Beta Sigma seeks individuals with good character and high integrity, with a record of community service and volunteerism and caring about our fellow mankind, with proof of taking scholarly pursuits and academic responsibilities seriously (a 2.50 cumulative GPA or better, no minimum credit hours), who are detailed-oriented, civic-minded, ambitious, creative, ready to serve, eager to work, able to cooperate with others, values teamwork and unity and the Principles of Sigma, who respects women, culture, and all the diversity of humanity. The Fraternity's Constitution states that we do not discriminate in national origin, race, or religion, and the Fraternity strictly follows a dignified Intake Process with NO hazing. Anyone interested is invited to contact the Fraternity or the Office of Student Engagement for information about plans for the next Intake Process of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. The Membership Drive for the Fall 2017 Pledge Class will begin on September 25, 2017.
