The majority of our trips are on public transportation since we don't get enough funding for it. So we'll meet at 1pm at the Reservoir T Stop on Friday. Dress is Business Casual.
Zynga is a Social Gaming platform founded in 2007 by Mark Pincus, who still remains as CEO. Zynga was largely successful due to their launch of FarmVille in 2009 as an embedded app on Facebook. Since, Zynga has grown to over 3000 employees, gone public with a $1 billion in July of 2011, developed several new games, acquired a variety of smaller gaming firms, and expanded into other markets, most notably mobile.
Zynga most recently (March 21st) acquired OMGPOP, creators of the now popular Draw Something iOS app, which has topped App Store charts for weeks. This acquisition is consistent with Zynga's strong push towards the mobile gaming market.
With 240 million actively monthly users, Zynga's most popular games today consist of CityVille, CastleVille, Zynga Poker, FarmVille, and
Empires and Allies. They are known for their simple yet addicting games with a strong focus on social. Zynga thrives on social
networking sites that allow their games to be integrated into their online social experience. Users can ask friends for help harvesting
their crops, attack their friends empire, or help collect taxes in their friend's city. The social experience keeps users coming back and
makes it easy for Zynga to harvest new users.
