Student Voices Needed: Get Involved in Committees!

Oct 2, 2017 by Casey Hayden

Get Involved with AS & University Committees!

Western’s student government, the AS, is dedicated to ensuring that students are represented in university decision making. To accomplish this goal, there are nearly 200 student positions on AS and University Committees, open to any Western Student.

Why Serve?

  • Committees do all of the things that you are passionate about, from drafting Western’s Lobbying Agenda, to putting sustainable food on Western’s tables, to advocating for new policies in Residence Life.
  • Serving on a committee is experience that you can add to a resume, and will help you gain professional skills for any work place.
  • Students who serve on university committees work closely with faculty and administrators to make important decisions about curriculum, campus goals, and funding for projects.

How to Join:

  • Check out the full list of committees available and fill out an application at:
  • You’ll receive a confirmation email once your application is processed and you’re approved to serve.

If you have any questions about a committee or the process in general, contact the AS Committees Coordinator at or stop by the REP office in VU 435. We’d love to have you get involved!
