FUOC, I Am That Girl, The Cothran Center, and Dr. Ranson have put our heads together to bring in Jennifer Pharr Davis, the female record holder for fastest Appalachian Trail through hike, to give a talk (CLP Pending) about lessons learned on the trail. This hike is a moderate to strenuous 11.2 miles, but we will move in a group! Do not be intimidated. Will leave to carpool to the campground at 6:30am from the rabbit hole. Clayton's taking a crew over to Lake Saluda to practice paddling at a nice, new lake access point.

We'll go over the different paddling strokes, how to do a wet exit, possibly play some games, and possibly do some roll instruction.

SOS Saluda River Sweep

Come join FUOC and EAG (Environmental Action Group) for a river clean-up of the Middle and North Saluda Rivers with Save Our Saluda and Foothills Paddling Club!

We'll be cleaning up multiple sections of the Saluda river in Marietta (just north of Travelers Rest).

Meet at the Rabbit Hole and we'll carpool from there.

Blue Ghost Fireflies

The Blue Ghost Firefly is a very rare type of firefly.  As far as I know they are only found in certain places in the southern Appalachians and are only seen during their approximately 1 month long mating season.  Their light is a starlight blue color and it burns for several seconds at a time.
