Fashion for Philanthropy (FFP) works to promote interest and knowledge of the fashion industry and its various components. FFP seeks to use the medium of self-expression, a fundamental element of fashion, to express the Jesuit ideals of social responsibility and creative individuality.
Throughout the year, Fashion for Philanthropy hosts several events focusing on the different aspects of fashion whether it be through television, business, modeling, or design. Fashion for Philanthropy strives to expose students to current issues and trends within the fashion industry. The Jesuit philosophy of being men and women for others has inspired the club to donate its proceeds to philanthropic organizations. All funds generated at events are given to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Metro New York. They in turn use the proceeds to grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.
FFPs biggest event of the year is the annual spring fashion show. Students from both campuses come together to find designers and sponsors willing to donate their clothing and many talents for the show. Student performers, models and designers use these resources and their creativity to collaborate and create one of the most successful events of the year.
In 2017, FFP raised $7,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York.
