Welcome to Best Buddies- Houston Baptist University Chapter!
What is Best Buddies?
Best Buddies International is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one‐to‐one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
In simple terms, this means that Best Buddies provides friends, jobs, and leadership development to people who have intellectual and developmental disabilities.
We Need YOU!
There is a great need for a program like Best Buddies.
There are 9.3 million people with intellectual disabilities in the U.S. who have traditionally been segregated from society. By participating in Best Buddies, we include people with disabilities and expand their circle of friends.
Through participation in Best Buddies, people with and without disabilities are given the chance to explore new friendships and widen their social circles. Best Buddies helps us make a difference in someone else’s life and our own.
How does this apply to us?
Buddies and HBU College Students are matched one-on-one into Buddy Pairs

If your organization has selective membership, please describe the selection process.
Best Buddies has two types of memberships. Full time members have a buddy that they must call at least once a week and see at least once a month. They get to build an amazing relationship with a person with special needs. Associate members attend meetings, events and are involved but do not have a specific buddy they are spending time with throughout the school year.
If dues will be accepted, how much will they be and how often will they be collected?
There are no dues, but t-shirts are encouraged to be purchased, and everyone should be present for fundraising.
