Trick or Treat so Golden Can Eat

When you think of Halloween, you may think of pumpkins, spiders, and candy corn.  However, for many Golden families, they are struggling to simply get food on the table.  That’s why USG is putting on Trick or Treat so Golden Can Eat!  On Halloween night, Mines clubs go “Trick or Treating,” but instead of collecting candy, we collect canned goods.  All of the cans will go back to the Christian Action Guild to be donated to Golden community members in need.

Trick or Treating is a fun, easy, and for a great cause.  Not only is it an easy task, but Trick or Treating for 2 hours can collect over 200 cans!

So how do you participate?

Step 1: Register your event using the google form here.

Step 2: You will receive an email with your section of Golden for Trick or Treating.

Step 3: Show up at 6pm (snacks will be provided)

Step 4: Go to your section, and Trick or Treat!  (You are responsible for your own transportation)

Step 5: Bring all cans back to our meeting location October 31st, after you have finished Trick or Treating.

Event Details:

When:   October 31, 6pm – 9pm

Where:  We will send you an email with the confirmed location

*Brief snacks will be provided before departure.

43rd annual 9NEWS Parade of Lights…NEEDS Volunteers

The 43rd annual 9NEWS Parade of Lights is quickly approaching.  Mark your calendar for December 1st and 2nd to plan to be a part of the Rocky Mountain region’s largest holiday celebration!

Volunteers are an essential part of the parade and vital to the overall success of the event.  We rely on volunteers for costume characters, balloon handlers, banner carriers, and much more.  The parade is a great opportunity for groups from your school to have fun and volunteer together.

Reach out to request a list of opportunities that can accommodate large groups or smaller groups.  We do our best to place groups in their first preference, but we ask that you be flexible with us.  Please not that we must have a filled out online application for each person that wants to participate (But make sure they all write the same group).  Link to Application

Please review all information in the application carefully and fill it out by Monday, October 23rdEvery person that wants to volunteer must fill out an application to be assigned a spot!

We are looking forward to the 2017 Parade and hope to have Colorado School of Mines join us as a part of our Volunteer Team.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact Alex Menos via e-mail at or by phone at (303) 295-3660.
