Speaker Application (May 2017)
Dr. Bonnie Cone's vision was to celebrate commencement with parting words given by a graduating student to his/her classmates, and this tradition lives on today. Commencement speakers must audition and are selected by a committee to provide the commencement address at each of the three commencement ceremonies. Prospective speakers should represent the University well and possess good speaking skills, character and school spirit.
All applicants for Commencement Speaker must submit a written copy of their remarks (2-3 minutes maximum) and audition either in person, or by submission of a DVD recording or online link to a video recording. The deadline for submissions is 11:59pm on Sunday, March 19th. The audition date/time for Spring 2017 is Friday, March 24th between 9:00am-4:00pm. Applicants will be contacted for an audition time.
Applicants must have a minimum of 2.75 cumulative GPA and be in good disciplinary standing. For questions or additional information, contact Sharisse Stafford in the the Dean of Students Office at 704-687-0343, in person in 217 King Building or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
