Below are several opportunities to Serve Others First! As a reminder, we aim to track all service hours. Any volunteer hours completed on or after Sept. 1, 2018 should be logged HERE. Do NOT submit hours in which your department has already accounted for. Please email Stephanie Cuellar (Stephanie.Cuellar@unthsc.edu) with questions or concerns.
Research Appreciation Day is in need of volunteers! On March 4 at 8:00am the volunteer form will open. The majority of our volunteers will be needed between the hours of 7:30am-2:00pm on Friday, March 29. Volunteers will receive breakfast, lunch, a free t-shirt, volunteer hours (if applicable) and a RAD giveaway item.

Van Zandt-Guinn Elementary Annual Career Day
The Van Zandt-Guinn Elementary Annual Career Day is Friday, March 22 from 8:30am-2:00pm. They are in need of faculty, student, and staff volunteers. Volunteers should prepare a 20 to 30 minute talk, presentation, and/or activity with the children. You will likely be placed with 2nd and 3rd graders, age 7-9 years old. They have recommended hygiene, nutrition, and basic CPR as some ideal topics. Volunteers are expected to serve at least 2 hours between 8:30am-2:00pm. Please sign-up by Tuesday, March 12 to secure your volunteer spot!
Gran Fondo Hincapie- Fort Worth is scheduled for Saturday, March 30. Our very own FitWorth has been selected as this year's charity partner, meaning a portion of the event proceeds are coming back to support FitWorth programs. All volunteers will receive a few thank you gifts which are detailed on the website. Other roles will also receive free or reduced registration. Free registration will be provided to riding course marshals. At least a 50% discount will be provided to those helping with event set-up, tear-down, parking attendants, and route sign collection.
Join Keep Fort Worth Beautiful and thousands of volunteers across the city for the 34th annual Cowtown Great American Cleanup on Saturday, March 30 from 8:00am-11:00am all around Fort Worth, TX! This is Fort Worth's largest annual litter cleanup and beautification event. For a list of other Cowtown Great American Cleanup events including the 5K and the Earth Party, click here.
The Fort Worth Botanic Garden is hosting Lanterns in the Garden on the following dates from 6:00pm-10:00pm. They need volunteers for each event. Please contact Julie Donovan, Director of Volunteers & Public Engagement, at email@example.com, if you are interested in volunteering.

Join Don’t Forget to Feed Me Pet Food Bank, Inc. for their Hungry Hound Hustle 5K Fun Run and 1 mile Dog Walk on Saturday, March 30 from 6:30am-11:00am at Mutt's Canine Cantina. All proceeds benefit Don’t Forget to Feed Me Pet Food Bank. Volunteers are needed to pass out water, assist with set-up and clean-up, and encourage runners. All volunteers must be at least 16 years old or accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Samaritan House serves three meals a day to their residents living with HIV/Aids. Their kitchen crew cooks breakfast and lunch daily. However, they rely on volunteers to bring in dinner. Dinner is served around 5:30pm each night. They currently have five dates in March that need to be filled:
- Friday, March 1st
- Thursday, March 7th
- Wednesday, March 13th
- Sunday, March 24th
- Saturday, March 30th
Would your department or student organization be willing and able to provide a meal for their residents on any of these evenings? They usually have an average of 40 residents that eat dinner, 55 enrolled. Volunteers can bring food that is prepared or they can prepare the meal in our commercial kitchen. Meals can be anything from pizza and bread sticks to spaghetti and salad, tacos… you name it! Silverware and drinks will be provided, but you are asked to bring paper plate with you. The volunteers can either clean up and leave after dinner or they can bring in an activity to enjoy with the residents.

The Parenting Center is in need of 6-7 volunteers on Friday, April 12 from 9:00am-12:00pm. Volunteers must be HIPAA trained, as they will be organizing and sorting confidential records.
Join the Samaritan House at Joe's Run on Saturday, June 1 at Magnolia on the Green. There are several committee positions available for you to get involved and give back to the Fort Worth community:

- Vendor Lead
- Social Media Lead
- Awards Lead
Committee leads would meet once in February to provide an overview of the event and duties. Additionally, committee leads will meet again in May and June. These meetings will last no longer than two (2) hours per meeting, totally a six (6) hour time commitment prior to the event.

If you are unable to serve as a committee lead, please consider volunteering at the event on June. 1. Volunteers will be asked to arrive early in the morning (around 6:00am) and the event will end around 1:00pm.

Taste Project is a non-profit, pay-what-you-can restaurant located in Fort Worth, TX. They are seeking individual and group volunteers to serve on their Welcome Team (hostess), Service Team (busser, food runner, barista, server - aka waiter/waitress), or Kitchen Team (food prep, line cook). Individuals are asked to commit to a 3-hour shift, while groups are asked to commit to 5-hour shifts. Taste Project will offer all training on-site, so no experience is necessary. Volunteers are not required to hold a Food Handler's Certificate.

Senior Synergy Expo is a Tarrant County event centered around serving individuals 50 years of age or better. This event will take place at Will Rogers Memorial Center on Thursday, May 9, 2019 from 8:30am-1:30pm. Help is needed with registration, bag distribution, door prizes, greeters, etc.
Help feed, educate and provide resources to hungry North Texans by volunteering at Tarrant Area Food Bank!
- Have a passion for cooking and teaching others?: Share your talent and serve as a Nutrition Instructor, Culinary Instructor, or Course Assistant for Cooking Matters. Training and background check required.
- Serve up something special for those in need: Work alongside the Community Kitchen culinary students to assemble single serve meals for families in need!
- Make a difference in 13 counties from one room: Be a part of something big and volunteer at the distribution center sorting and inspecting donated foods. Look for volunteer opportunities year-round marked “Quality Control.”

Las Vegas Trail Rise (#LVTRISE) Mobile Community Center needs weekly volunteers! Volunteers will be helping distribute food to residents from the Mobile Community Center's food pantry. These events are primarily outdoors, so volunteers need to be comfortable standing outside.

Computers for the Blind (CFTB) is a non-profit, volunteer organization devoted to providing computers to persons who are blind or visually impaired. They are in need of volunteers to go through a check list of tasks necessary to refurbish computers. Volunteers will blow out the dust bunnies, wipe the hard drives, bring the computers up to specs, install Windows 10, add accessibility software and much more. Training will be provided to volunteers upon arrival.
They offer multiple shifts weekly, so you can pick which one best fits your schedule.

- Wednesday: 12:00pm - 5:00pm
- Thursday: 12:00pm - 6:00pm
- Saturday: 10:00am - 4:00pm

Convoy of Hope serves guests of honor–in dozens of communities throughout the world–by providing them with free groceries, health and dental screenings, haircuts, family portraits, meals and much more at our community events. They are in need of volunteers on Saturday, Sept. 28 at Southwest High School on 4100 Altamesa Blvd in Fort Worth, TX. All volunteers are required to attend the Volunteer Rally on Friday, Sept. 27 at 7:00pm at Christ Church on 5301 Altamesa Blvd in Fort Worth, TX.
