Student Workshop: How to Have Hard Conversation with Civility
Aug 28, 2017 by Anika M Strand
Student Workshop: How to Have Hard Conversation with Civility on August 31 from 3:00-4:30pm in the Howard Room with Noel Castellanos.
Noel is the CEO and President of the Christian Community Development Association (CCDA) and has been an integral participant and facilitator in many hard conversations on matters of race, equality, justice and community. His life as a disciple of Christ and his work with CCDA make him a natural fit with our fall focus in Campus Worship on Colossians 3 and the importance of clothing ourselves with civility as Christians living in a contentious world. We recognize our need for encouragement and instruction as a community on such matters, and we believe Noel can help us re-imagine communicating with one another about difficult and divisive topics in ways that embody both compassion and conviction, respect and rationale, challenge and empathy, grit and grace.
The Office of Spiritual Life, the Mann Center for Ethics and Leadership, the Office of Diversity and Intercultural Initiatives and the Student Government Association hope you will join us for this invaluable workshop. Seating is limited so please reserve your spot (which will include afternoon snacks) at this link:
