SALSA Stands for Student Association of Latino Spanish Affairs. Anyone is welcome to learn about, celebrate, and share Latino culture.
The Student Association of Latino-Spanish Affairs, S.A.L.S.A., the first Latino/Hispanic based club at ECU, was founded in the fall of 2000. The purpose of our organization is to promote Latino/Hispanic awareness throughout campus and the surrounding community. S.A.L.S.A. proudly represents a variety of different cultures and different backgrounds. We encourage unity between all ethnicities, especially Latin Americans. Here at ECU we recognize both the need for unity among Latino/Hispanic students and a strong relationship among our community. We acknowledge the value of diversity and distinctiveness of the Latino/Hispanic community and recognize both the need for unity among Latino/Hispanic students and a strong relationship among all undergraduates, graduates, faculty, staff, and community.
To promote Latino advocacy and affluence in our communities and society, to invoke a more perfect union among Latin American individuals, to develop a bond that shall be strengthen as time progresses, and to continue to the fight against injustices and discrimination against Latinos.
Each organization may only have one officer listed with CRO to reserve space on campus.This role may be included in the responsibility of the President, VP, or other officers.
