Welcome to Medically Engaged Diverse Students at Florida International University!
We are a pre-health organization founded in 2010 at Florida International University called Medically Engaged Diverse Students or MEDS. Our goal is to recruit students of every background and try to increase their chances of being accepted into medical or physician assistant school by providing research, shadowing, community service and exam practice opportunities. We provide opportunities to future pre-health professionals by assisting those in need in our local community.
The mission of Medically Engaged Diverse Students is to support fellow undergraduate students interested in the field of medicine. The purpose of Medically Engaged Diverse Students is to help students increase their chances of being accepted into medical and PA school by providing research, shadowing, community service and MCAT practice opportunities. But most importantly, we are trying to increase students' commitment in our society by assisting those in need in our local community. Functions of the organization include inviting doctors to speak at our meetings, partaking in community service events, providing shadowing opportunities to students, organizing the medical mentoring event, encouraging collaboration between students, and motivating students to take on leadership roles.
