Employment & Volunteer Opportunities Available

Are you ready to get more out of your LU experience? Consider applying for one of these exciting positions! On-campus positions include paid and volunteer assignments in Residence Life, Student Activities, and more!

LU Ambassadors

Lamar University Ambassadors represent the student body at official university functions. Ambassadors work to promote LU pride among students, alumni, and friends of the university. Minimum requirements:

  • Full-time enrolled undergraduate status
  • Have completed at least one semester at LU
  • Sophomore or Junior standing in Fall 2016
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Approval from your college dean

Resident Assistants

Resident Assistants help build community and supervise residents in LU's five residence halls. The RA is responsible for facilitating a positive living and learning environment in the residence halls & serves as the direct link between the Office of Residence Life and the residents. Minimum requirements:

  • Sophomore standing at the time of employment (at least 30 credit hours)
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.6 or higher at the time of application and throughout employment
  • Good student conduct standing with Lamar University

Orientation Leaders

Do you have major Cardinal Pride? Would you like to develop your leadership skills while helping new students get used to campus life? Consider being an Orientation Leader! Orientation Leaders are current LU students who help new students have a fun and successful Orientation. Minimum requirements:

  • Cumulative 2.25 GPA
  • Be in good standing with LU
  • Be available for all orientations, trainings, and other required dates during Summer 2016

Lamar Alive and Lamar Service Volunteers

We're looking for dedicated volunteers to help make our student events successful! Students who volunteer the greatest number of hours between now and May 9 will win the Lamar Alive and Lamar Service Recognition Award.

  • First place - $ 300
  • Second place - $125
  • Third place - $75
