Welcome to TRIGON, Penn State Behrend's Gay-Straight Alliance!
What is Trigon?
Trigon is the gay-straight alliance (GSA) at Penn State Behrend. We strive to create a safe, inviting environment for LGBTQ+ students, faculty, and staff at Behrend. Both members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies are welcome at meetings and events. We host numerous events over the course of the year, the most notable of which is our annual drag show that is held during the fall semester. Other past events have included Kinsey Sicks and participation in events such as National Coming Out Day, The Day of Silence, and AIDS Awareness Week. Trigon host weekly business meetings, and often meets in an informal social setting. We would love to meet you and help you get involved in the community on campus!
Why is it Called Trigon?
"Trigon" simply refers to the definition of a division consisting of three sides. In Ancient Greece, it meant an aspect of three planets differing in 120 degrees from each other. The founders of this organization have taken this word and made it into a symbol uniting gay, bisexual, and straight persons. In recent years, we have expanded this idea to include everyone in the LGBTQ+ community.
