PENN STATE BEHREND'S
WHAT IS TRIGON?
Trigon is a gay-straight alliance on campus. It is not only for the LGBTQIA community, but their allies as well. We host numerous events which in the past have included Drag Shows and Kinsey Sicks. We also have several social nights and other events to get invovled in, such as National Coming Out Day, The Day of Silence, and AIDs Awareness Week. Our club promotes a safe, comfortable environment for the LGBTQIAA community and their allies on campus.
WHAT DOES TRIGON STAND FOR?
"Trigon" the word simply refers to the definition of a division consisting of three sides. In Ancient Greece, it meant an aspect of three planets differing in 120 degrees from each other.
The founders of this organization have taken this word and made it into a symbol uniting gay, bisexual, and straight persons. In recent years, the idea has expanded to include unity of all sexual minorities, creating the acronym LGBTQIAA
L - Lesbian
G - Gay
B - Bisexual
T - Transgender
Q - Questioning
I - Intersex
A - Asexual
A - Ally
