On-Campus Events & Opportunities
for Students, Faculty, and Staff

Raider Welcome is a series of FUN and FREE events designed to welcome new and returning students to the Texas Tech campus. Raider Welcome occurs after Residence Hall move-in and throughout the first week of classes.

By the end of the two weeks of activities, you'll have all the tools you need to start your first semester and make Texas Tech University your own. Among the activities are a few major events, some old-standing traditions, and some exciting new opportunities that you just cannot afford to miss!

Texas Tech Lady Raider Basketball vs. UT

Come out and support Texas Tech Women’s Basketball as they take on UT. The game is being held Saturday, January 20th @ 3:00 pm at the United Supermarkets Arena.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration

The Martin Luther King Commemorative Council of Lubbock would like to invite the public to help celebrate the life and vision of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The MLK Gospel Night is happening at 6:00pm on Monday, January 15th at Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. The 2018 Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service is on Monday, January 15th! On this day, thousands of people across the country are honoring Martin Luther King Jr. by giving back to the community. Nonprofits across Lubbock are hosting projects throughout the day, so be sure to sign up to help celebrate this National Day of Service! Project Save A Mouth (PSAM) Community Healthcare Night

PSAM brings together a united coalition of healthcare professionals, community organizations and leaders, and schools to educate the public about best oral hygiene practices. PSAM can help Lubbock residents prevent serious health complications, giving them better and healthier lives. This event will be held on Wednesday, January 17th 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Hilton Garden Inn, 6027 45th St, Lubbock, TX 

A Tribute to Bon Jovi, Aerosmith and Journey

Are you ready to rock? Well, "Don't Stop Believing" because on Sat Jan 20th 7:30pm at Cactus Theater, 1812 Buddy Holly Ave, Cactus Theater will be honoring the best rock of the 80's. Come out as Dustin Garrett, Jeff McCreight, Jason Fellers, Haley Simpson and the Lubbock Texas Rhythm Machine cover Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, and Journey. These artists literally shaped the direction of music for years, so don't miss out on an unforgettable night of fun and great music featuring. Saturday, January 20th at 7:30 check out high-energy wrestling for the entire family. There will be authentic stars, characters & stories. This wrestling event will be held at the South Plain Fair Park Coliseum. You can purchase tickets at Arolucha Lucha Libre's website!

Pancakes and Volunteering!

The Lubbock Lion’s Club will be holding their annual Pancake Festival on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Civic Center. Once again, they are asking if your organization will be willing to assist us in this worthy cause. The 2018 – 66th Annual Lubbock Lions Club Pancake Festival is scheduled for Saturday, February 17, 2017, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Civic Center. They break this down into three working shifts, 1st shift - 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, 2nd shift - 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and 3rd shift - 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. They will need your organization to work the 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts. Student Union & Activities is looking for student organizations interested in collaborating on Texas Tech's Annual Diversity Week, during the Spring 2018 semester. Email if interested! Please contact Kelsey Jackson, by Monday, February 26 if your department or organization has any ideas or would like to participate in planning the 5th annual Diversity Week.

Diversity Week is a week dedicated to celebrating and understanding the importance of diversity throughout the community and Texas Tech University. Events, both fun and educational, will be planned throughout the entire week. The only limit to the events and topics we include is your imagination!
