General Announcements for Students,
Faculty, & Staff

The Center for Campus Life is hosting a Yard Sale for student organizations to raise money for Hurricane Harvey Relief efforts or a cause of their choice. We know that students have wanted to help but do not always have the money to donate. This way students can collect items that are in good condition and participate in this large yard sale to raise money for the cause. Most agencies are not accepting donated items because they do not have the volunteers or the space to put them so this way the collected items can still be utilized. Student organizations will be collecting items and then selling them at the Yard Sale. If we do not get enough organizations signed up by Wednesday we will be canceling the Sale.

If you or your organization is interested in participating please REGISTER. If you have any questions that are not answered in the registration please email

Civil Counterpoints: A Campus Conversation Series aims to stimulate thoughtful and respectful dialogue on volatile contemporary issues among members of the Texas Tech community. The series offers the university community opportunities to hear experts in the field tackle difficult topics through the engaged dialogues we encourage in the classroom, the lab, our hallways, and other forums.

Nightmare on 19th Street has received another terrifying upgrade. There are four different attractions this year including Blood Moon Manor, The Wastelands, Dead Doll Island and Clowntown 3D, each more terrifying than the next. If you love the thrill of being scared and like to feel that the gore you are seeing is a reality, this is the haunted experience for you.

Important Events & Opportunities
for Student Org Leaders & Advisors

It’s that time again to start thinking about this year’s Tech Can Share Campus-Wide Food Drive (TTU’s Contribution to the South Plains Food Bank Annual U Can Share Food Drive). Student Activities invites your organization to be a part of what makes this event so great – bringing together students organizations to donate food to the South Plains Food Bank. After speaking to South Plains Food Bank last week, it has lit a fire on the Student Activities Board Outreach Committee to make this year’s Tech Can Share Food drive the best it can be!

Student Activities will be hosting an information session and bringing the South Plains Food Bank on to campus to provide information on the 2017 Tech Can Share Food Drive and more about the amazing and positive impact that your donation makes on the Lubbock-area Community. The Tech Can Share Info Sessions will be held on Friday, October 6 from 3-4pm & Monday, October 9 from 2-3pm in the SUB Escondido Theatre.

RSVP to an info session by emailing (or if you have questions about Tech Can Share). Tech Can Share is one of our big events each fall and we would love to have you and your organization be part of this event.

Student Org Risk Management Training

All student organizations are required to attend a Risk Management Training each year. If your organization did not attend the Student Org Academy in the spring or attend one of the trainings this past April you need to attend one of the trainings this fall to avoid being disabled. Check the LIST to see if your organization has completed the training and required assessment. If you are sure that your organization attended a training in the spring then the attendee has not completed the assessment. Follow these INSTRUCTIONS to see how to find and complete the assessment. The date listed on the instructions is for the Student Org Academy so if you attended
one of the later dates in April find that date instead.

Fall Training Dates

Student Organizations, next week is Pride Week and we have put together some resources for you to use during your student org meetings. We have resources to discuss the coming out process, pronouns, and the difference between identity, expression, sex, and attraction. We also have a couple activities that you could use to help members understand differences. These resources will remain on OrgSync year round to use when needed. RESOURCES
