It's the LAST day of Texas Tech Diversity Week! What a great week it has been! Check out the events going on today:
Diversity Week Blood Drive
Hosted by United Blood Services - West Texas and the Tech Activities Board
In front of the SUB
Stop by the bloodmobile to learn about the diversity amongst blood donors, the different blood types, and why it is important to have donors from all backgrounds. Find the hero in you and take part in the Diversity Week Blood Drive.
International Technical Communication Panel
Presented by the Society for Technical Communication - Texas Tech University
SUB Senate Room
This panel will feature five presenters reflecting on their experiences communicating across cultures with a question and answer session. Our panelists are Dr. Rich Rice (Associate Professor, Technical Communication), Dr. Kanika Batra (Associate Professor, Literature), Dr. Bolanle Olaniran (Professor, Media and Communication Studies), Brandy Bippes (PhD student, Technical Communication), and Sophie Frankel and Tim Salau (Technical Communication majors). Dr. Rice’s talk is titled “Developing Intercultural Communication Competence through Multimodal Essays” and will focus on Indian culture. Dr. Batra’s presentation will focus on Race and Queer studies in an international setting. Ms. Bippes will share her experiences as a technical communicator in Shanghai during a study abroad program. Ms. Frankel and Mr. Salau’s joint presentation will discuss their experiences collaborating in small groups with Italian students to design documentation. Dr. Olaniran will contribute a currently untitled presentation.

The Student Government Association is wanting to hear what makes our fellow Red Raiders diverse! Come visit us in the SUB on March 25th between the hours of 11:00AM and 3:00PM next to the Main Info desk (outside Barnes & Noble) to share with us! Members of the SGA Diversity Committee will be eager to hear what you have to say and together we can learn what makes Texas Tech a diverse and inclusive campus for all by adding our stories to the What Makes You Diverse wall.

Join the Graduate Student Advisory Council for Diversity House! The event will take place on Friday March 25th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the graduate student center (located in the basement of the West wing of the administration building). The center's doors will be open and all students and faculty are welcome. GSAC along with other student organizations will offer snacks and drinks unique to the various cultures each organization represents. There will also be other interactive cultural activities. GSAC recognizes the importance of our diverse student population and will be celebrating on the last day of Diversity Week with this networking come-and-go event. We hope to see you there!
