Diversity Week Starts Today!

Today marks the first day of Diversity Week 2016. Check out the week long events & today's events below!

All Week:

What is Recreation to You? Hosted by the Rec Center- Student Recreation Center: Come by the TTU Rec Center and tell us what you do for recreation and what it means to you. This prompted wall will be posted throughout the entrance hallway all week during Diversity Week. Questions about the poster, please email Laura Thomas at laura.w.thomas@ttu.edu.

What Makes You Different? Hosted by the Rec Center- Student Recreation Center: Come by the TTU Rec Center and tell us what makes you different and how you build confidence in your differences. This can be in reference to recreation, student organizations, family, background, anything!! This prompted wall will be posted throughout the main hallway all week during Diversity Week. Questions about the poster, please email Laura Thomas at laura.w.thomas@ttu.edu.

Cultural Attire hosted by International Student Council: Students do you want to showcase aspects of your culture? Now is your chance. You’re invited to wear your cultural attire throughout Diversity Week 2016. Students send us your pictures via Twitter and Instagram using #Diversity2016 and be entered to win a prize. Each student is limited to 1 picture entry.

Diversity Videos hosted by the International Student Council: Ever wonder what it is like for international students here at Texas Tech? Now is your chance to find out. ISC will be interviewing international students all throughout Diversity Week, asking them various questions dealing with their culture, their experience, thoughts and perception of Texas Tech University, Lubbock, and what makes them diverse.

Monday:

11:00-2:00 PM Where Are You From Wall hosted by the Tech Activities Board- SUB Main Info: Celebrate your diversity by pinning your location of origin on the world map to help show the diversity we have on campus.

11:00-12:00 PM #MoneyMonday hosted by Red to Black- SUB CopyMail: Help us breakdown stereotypes by identifying & responding to different messages about money. Stop by our booth in the SUB across from Copy Mail to participate and win some prizes!

12:00-1:30 PM Diversity Week Kick-Off hosted by the Division of Institutional Diversity, Equity & Community Engagement- SUB North Plaza: The Division of Institutional Diversity, Equity & Community Engagement is pleased to host the Diversity Week Kick-Off Event which will include free food, entertainment, and resources from various multicultural student organizations on the Texas Tech Campus. Please join us as we engage in conversation and networking to kick-off Diversity Week. This event is free and open to all.

2:00-5:00 PM I am… hosted by the Tech Activities Board- SUB Courtyard: Diversity is a beautiful thing and you are a part of it! Come out and contribute to Texas Tech’s diversity by customizing your own word art wall decoration that reflects who you are. Free with TTU Student I.D.

6:00-9:00 PM Jordan Carlos featuring Dancers With Soul hosted by the Tech Activities Board & Dancers With Soul- SUB Red Raider Ballroom: Who said diversity has to be boring? Come out and listen to comedian Jordan Carlos from “Guy Code” as he provides a comedic spin to diversity in modern day society. Also enjoy special dance performances and interactive dance lessons! Free with TTU Student I.D.
