The following newsletter is sent out every week if there is information happening on campus or in the community that student organizations can benefit from. Although the announcement is sent out by the Center for Campus Life the contact for the various activities may not be in the Center for Campus Life, and will be listed in the each brief paragraph, in most cases the Center for Campus Life will not have any more information than is listed in this general email, and will direct you to the contact listed.

Student Organizations Weekly

Have you registered your organization for 2015-2016? You Have 10 days left!

Registration due by the first day of Fall classes, August 24th. Log-in to your organization's orgsync portal and update your information. Make sure to include the 2015-2016 University Policy Agreement form and your constitution and bylaws. If you want to start reserving rooms on campus for your organization you must be registered through OrgSync in order to do so.

We have created an easy form for you and your student organization to submit announcements that would appear in the Student Orgs Weekly. Red to Black® offers free and confidential financial coaching to all Texas Tech students

We offer one-on-one coaching sessions and presentations on a variety of financial topics such as debt management, spending plans, maximizing student loans, and expenses after college. For officers and other student organization leaders, we offer workshops to maximize funding and assist with a long-term financial plan for the organization. We are available for walk-ins (Monday – Thursday, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.) and by appointment for one-on-one sessions. Raider Welcome is a series of FUN and FREE events designed to welcome new and returning students to the Texas Tech campus. Raider Welcome occurs after Residence Hall move-in and throughout the first week of classes.

Raider Welcome events are for both incoming and returning Texas Tech Students.

Among the activities are a few major events, some old-standing traditions, and some exciting new opportunities that you just cannot afford to miss! Use the official hashtag #RaiderWelcome when posting on social media.

Tech Student Democrats Weekly Meeting

Tech Student Democrats would like to invite all democrats to join them in their weekly meeting. The meetings will be held every Thursday at 6pm in the Student Union Building, please like their Facebook page for the room number and more meeting information.

Design the Official Family Weekend 2015 T-Shirt!

Promote your Organization's Event on the Family Weekend Schedule

Family Weekend has been a tradition at Texas Tech since 1956. Many parents and family members will arrive on campus to visit their students and enjoy the many activities planned, including the Texas Tech vs. TCU football game.

If your student organization has activities planned during Family Weekend that you would like to see promoted on the Family Weekend schedule, please contact Christine Self at christine.self@ttu.edu or 806-834-2869.  Activities should be appropriate for Texas Tech students, their parents, and younger siblings.

Request a Step-Up Presentation to Your Department or Student Organization

Step Up is a peer to peer bystander intervention program designed to teach students when and how to intervene regarding sexual violence, bullying, hazing, and other problematic behaviors typically found in the college campus environment. Texas Tech University is providing Step Up presentations that can be tailored to specific topics to fit your audience. Step-Up presentations can be done for classrooms, organizations, and on campus interest groups.

Chipotle Fundraiser for Lubbock Children's Health Clinic THIS SATURDAY!

Cause an Effect
Saturday, August 15th at the Chipotle located at 2411 Glenna Goodacre Blvd from 12:00 and 3:30 pm.
Make lunch a selfless act by showing your support for Lubbock Children's Health Clinic. Print out this flyer, show it on your smartphone, or tell the cashier you're supporting the cause to make sure that 50% of the proceeds will be donated to Lubbock Children's Health Clinic.

Please share this with your friends and bring your family to join us for some good food while raising funds for LCHC.

Lubbock Moonlight Musicals

Lubbock Moonlight Musicals inspires audiences throughout the summer with fun and exciting musicals at the Amphitheater in Mackenzie Park.Making use of the fantastic talent of Texas Tech students and actors from the Lubbock community, Lubbock Moonlight Musicals is able to produce shows that thrill their audiences, whether a sophisticated theater viewer or a first-timer. Keep Lubbock Beautiful

Keep Lubbock Beautiful is in need of assistance from a group of individuals to help clean-up debris near the Canyon Lakes system in northeast Lubbock.  The area is a relatively a roundabout residential area.  Gloves, bags and debris tools will be on hand to pick up the trash.  This is a great service project that could be done in about an hour or two depending on the group.  Please call Raquel Padilla at 806-775-3081, Coordinator, the Keep Lubbock Beautiful City of Lubbock.

Volunteer Center of Lubbock

The Volunteer Center of Lubbock can be a great resource for student organizations. We work with nearly 100 nonprofits in the Lubbock community and connect volunteers with the many needs of our partners. As a student organization, we can help you plan a project for your group or help members their best volunteer fit. We can do this by visiting one-on-one with you or coming to speak at one of your meetings. We feel it is so important to engage students with the community they live in, not to mention they make for enthusiastic, passionate and energetic volunteers!
