Description

Mission Statement: "Our work is focused on engaging children with educational and constructive activities that instill life skills and academic achievement as well as laughter, fun, and excitement. This approach is designed to alleviate the strain of homelessness and provide each child with hope, encouragement and skills that may one day lead them to a stable home and a productive life." SVdP WSU directs and runs two tutoring programs: St. Vincent de Paul Gateway Shelter and Ketteringn Commons. Volunteer tutors, alongside the program director, assist students on their school work or other school-related work. Tutoring runs Monday through Thursday 4:15-5:30 pm while Dayton Public Schools is in session for Gateway or 4:30-6:00 pm while Kettering Schools is in session for Kettering Commons. In addition to the tutoring program, SVdP WSU regularly throws holiday parties for the shelter's children, For more information email svdpwsu@gmail.com
