Description

The purpose of Black Leaders Aspiring for Critical Knowledge, (BLACK) organization is to unify young black people with other cultures, on the campus of Ferris State University through the promotion of academic excellence. In addition, members of BLACK will organize and participate in activities which promote developmental and growth opportunities; deconstruct stigmatizing racial stereotypes particularly as they relate to African- American; and aspire to achieve a level of knowledge and understanding specific to African- Americans. Members of the organization will be held to the highest moral conduct standards of integrity, honesty, and dignity.

The Moja chapter was founded in the winter of 1995 by seven young men on the campus of Ferris Sate University.

Together, they each sought a serious need for Black inclusion. Thus began our inception.

Selection Process

If your organization has selective membership, please describe the selection process. This may include a GPA requirement, try-outs, degree program, etc.

Students interested in our organization must attend our informational scheduled each semester, and a meeting with our liaisons. After then if the student is still interested in our organization they will be allowed to enter our intake process.
