Kum Do is a modern Korean martial art, descended from swordsmanship, which utilizes bamboo swords and protective armor to strike targets on opponents in a sparring like atmosphere. It is an activity that combines martial arts practices and values with strenuous sport-like physical activity. Today, it is widely practiced all over the world.

Kum Do club members participate in regional and national tournaments, take tests for advancement in rank, and enjoy camaraderie and exercise to develop and improve the mind, body, and spirit. Everyone is welcome, no matter what experience, to watch a class or to participate! Please wear comfortable work out clothes, and we will lend you a sword for your first experiences.

We meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM in the Field House, room S461 and on Saturdays from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM in S515. Please contact Vice President Kate Duffus with questions at email kate-duffus@uiowa.edu. We hope to see you soon!
