Hello! NUS PEACE is a student-led interest group dedicated to improving the interests and welfare of animals, be they stray, domestic, or farmed. We hope to raise awareness of issues concerning animal abuse, animal rights and conservation. Join our cause!
Established in 2006 by a few dedicated NUS students, they got together and decided to make a positive change in the world by fighting for the causes they cared about. The idea that got us all excited was a simple one - To make the world a better place for the animals.
NUS PEACE fosters the love and respect that all animals deserve through education, advocacy and action, by connecting with others in the community who care.
Please list your objectives for the next year.
NUS PEACE aims to be a strong voice for animals by addressing often neglected issues concerning pets, farm animals, laboratory animals, animals in entertainment and in the wild.
(For example: social, service, leadership, physical/fitness, etc.)
We currently have 4 ongoing projects:
• Cat Cafe
CatCafe is a network of NUS PEACE volunteers who work to protect the stray cats found in our campus through sterilisation, responsible feeding and cat management. They also work to reduce and resolve stray cat-related complaints, in consultation with NUS OED. Join the Facebook group at tinyurl.com/nuscatcafe for real-time updates on our campus cats, or email us at email@example.com for any queries.
• Paw Friends
Paw Friends gives care and love to shelter animals and encourages others to do the same through fortnightly volunteering where our undergraduates bathe and walk dogs, clean shelters and prepare food! Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for any enquiries.
• Therapy Dogs Programme
Therapy Dogs Programme collaborates with Therapy Dogs Singapore (TDS) to organise and facilitate animal-assisted, stress-relief therapy sessions for NUS students during Reading Week, before the final exams. Email us at email@example.com for any enquiries.
• Vision of Equality for a Greener Earth (VEGE)
VEGE is a new project under NUS PEACE and aims to promote a compassionate, ethical and sustainable lifestyle within the NUS community.
