Spring Hill Community Garden Build
Come out and help us build a community garden in Spring Hill! Following a 2016 study by Stetson students that found that access to fresh and nutritious food is the greatest concern for residents of the Spring Hill community in Deland, the Stetson Center for Community Engagement has partnered with the City of DeLand, the USDA, the University of Florida’s Agricultural Extension Agency, Volusia County Master Gardeners, the Greater Union Life Center, and the Florida Department of Health to fund and build a community garden that will serve area residents. We’ll be constructing 39 raised garden beds.
- No special skills required; we’ll bring tools, and you bring a water bottle and a desire to make change in our community.
- Participants will be carpooling to this project from the Center for Community Engagement (behind the Hollis Center pool).
- RSVP required to attend this project. Please contact Maxwell Droznin, Community Engagement Coordinator, for more information.
