Interfaith Immersion to BC Canada 2018
Thank you for applying to the interfaith immersion! This program requires an expressed commitment to exploring your own spirituality, a commitment and openness to learning from others and building community. All are welcome.
Participants will travel to Richmond, Whistler & Vancouver, British Columbia Friday, May 25th-28th - memorial day weekend. The immersion includes visits to multiple faith communities including: Buddhist temples, a mosque, a Hindu cultural center, church, etc...Prior to the trip itself, participants will engage in group formation at the beginning of spring quarter to build community & learn about various faith traditions and practices - including various local religious/faith community site visits.
REQUIRED FORMATION DATES
April 3, 17 and May 1, 15, 22 - 6:00 to 8:00 pm
SEATTLE AREA SITE VISITS (includes travel time and lunch/dinner)
April 22 - 9:30 am to 6:30 pm - Black Church Experience and Mosque
May 11, 3:30 to 8:30 pm - Buddhist Temple and Synagogue
May 13, 5:00 to 9:30 pm - Hindu Temple
FINANCIAL COMMITMENT: $250
The interfaith immersion is partially subsidized by campus ministry and an interfaith grant. Each student will be responsible for $250 consisting of personal payments, family friends, collective group fundraising. While finances should not prohibit participation, we do ask each participant to commit to this effort.
If you aren't available over Memorial Day Weekend for the Immersion itself, you can always participate in our Interfaith Cohort: Exploring Faith in the City, which consists of the formation experience as well as the religious site visits in King County. There is no cost associated with the Interfaith Cohort. Applications are available through ConnectSU.
