Poverty Simulation Registration for November 10th, 3:00 PM Great Hall Memorial Student Center
Participants will learn first-hand what it takes to negotiate life without ready resources. This simulation will be approximately 3 hours in length and will place participants in groups who represent different families living in poverty. Each family will need to make sure that they “make ends meet” (paying bills, taking care of kids, getting to work, etc.) with the limited resources that they receive when the simulation starts. The simulation consists of 4 rounds (15 minutes each) which represents a week of time and participants will need to work together to make sure their family can survive the month. Leading up to this event, we will be showing the film "A Place at the Table" starting at 12:30 PM in the Great Hall of the Memorial Student Center. Co-sponsored by UW Extension, this event is free and open to the public. Please bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to Stepping Stones Food Pantry.
