Fall 2018 Havoc on Hubbard (Student Organization Fair) Registration

Fall 2018 Havoc on Hubbard (Student Organization Fair) Registration

Havoc on Hubbard (Student Organization Fair) will be held during FAIR DAYS! on Thursday, August 30, 2018, from 5:30 - 7:30 PM; weather permitting the event will be held outside on Hubbard Park. Check-in will also be located on Hubbard Park and will begin at 4:30 PM and run through 5:30 PM. It is recommended to be setup by 5:15 PM.

Only those organizations that are in good-standing with the University and the Center for Student Involvement & Leadership will be allowed to participate.

Space could be limited so please read the instructions below regarding registration cutoffs and the possibility of your organization being placed on a wait-list. Your organization will still need to complete a registration to be placed on the fair's wait list.

Information for Student Organization Fair Registrants:

Student organizations are encouraged to embrace the "Fair" theme and incorporate it into the activities they engage in or the give-away items the organization may choose to provide.  As always, this event provides your organization the opportunity to inform UI students about your organization’s plans for the fall semester and recruit new members.

Restrictions include (but are not limited to):

  • No recruiting/soliciting/campaigning away from the organization's assigned table
  • The sale of any items will not be permitted
  • Homemade baked goods or other homemade food items are not allowed
  • No animals are permitted other than working service animals
  • No hoverboards, skateboards, segues, or similar recreation items

Each registered student organization will be provided with one table (no chairs will be provided to encourage representatives to be up (if able) and actively engaging with attendees). Final plans and information will be communicated to participating organizations in early- to mid-August.

Student organizations may check in at their designated check-in table beginning at 4:30 PM. Your organization must have a representative at your table AT ALL TIMES for the duration of the event. Failure to have a member(s) at the table throughout the Fair, or groups that leave before 7:30 PM will incur a $25 fine and may not be allowed to participate in the 2019 Spring Student Organization Fair held in January. Any organization that registers for the Fall 2017 Student Organization Fair during FAIR DAYS!, and does not show up, will incur a $50 fine and will not be allowed to participate in the 2018 Spring AND 2018 Fall Student Organization Fairs. If you need to cancel your registration, you may do so by contacting the Center for Student Involvement & Leadership before 12:00 PM (Noon) on Friday, August 25, 2018, in order to avoid the “no-show” penalties.

The Student Organization Fair will be held outside on Hubbard Park, weather permitting, to allow for up to 300 organizations to participate.  After 300 submissions have been received your organization will be placed on a wait-list. The wait-list will close after it reaches fifteen organizations. After that you will not be allowed to register for the wait-list and the registration and wait-list will both be officially closed.

What about the weather??

If severe weather (extreme heat, thunderstorms, etc.) force the Student Organization Fair to move inside the Iowa Memorial Union, only the first 170 eligible student org registrations will be able to participate.  We will make the official weather call late on Tuesday, August 30 and all participating organizations will be notified with updated table assignments and check-in instructions.

Because you must be signed in to OrgSync to complete this registration form, a confirmation will be sent to all registrants upon submission.  If you have questions regarding the Student Organization Fair please contact the Center for Student Involvement & Leadership at (319) 335-3059 or by email at csil-student-org@uiowa.edu.

If you have general questions regarding FAIR DAYS! please contact Eric Rossow in the Center for Student Involvement & Leadership at (319) 335-3059.
