Selection Process/Membership Requirements

Please list information about your organisation's selection process and include membership requirements if applicable.

Membership for the MQISA is open to all current Macquarie University students both Indigenous and non Indigenous. There is no fees or costs associated with sign up or maintaining an ongoing membership. Members are required to uphold the relevant Macquarie anti- discrimination policies and student code of conduct encompassed by the general values of respect.

The selection process for the MQISA student executive team will require current Macquarie University students to register their interest in future positions through an application available upon request. The standing MQISA will deliberate the future executive based on past engagement and any other relevant leadership roles within the Macquarie University community.

MQISA executive positions will maintain the current set structure, unless an adjustment will be beneficial and in the best interests of the student group. MQISA positions are open to both Indigenous and non Indigenous students and those in these executive positions must act within the best interests of the student group. Any failure to do so could result in the termination of one’s standing within the executive. In the event that one’s standing is in question for possible termination the current MQISA must liase with campus engagement for guidance in the matter.

MQISA executive positions must be held in accordance with no other Student representative position or Executive position within any other student groups as it is a possible conflict of group interests and also may bear negatively upon the MQISA. It is the responsibility of all MQISA executive to attend at least 80% of all general meetings and MQISA events unless there are extenuating circumstances that prevent one from attendance.

Executive members must hold a MQISA Membership before applying for executive positions.
