Rennie Harris, a pioneering choreographer, dancer and founder of the company Rennie Harris Puremovement will be in conversation with UNL faculty for a special pre-performance talk immediately before the performance of LIFTED by Rennie Harris Puremovement on the Lied Center Main Stage. Harris will be joined in conversation by Dr. Jeannette Jones, a UNL professor of history and a hip hop scholar, and by a member of the UNL Dance faculty. The program will explore the rich collaborative history of hip hop, and the role dance has played in the cultural movement. Rennie Harris will share about his newest piece LIFTED, and talk about the barriers he broke in bringing hip hop dance into the performing arts center and out of the street.
