TITLE: Marketing Assistant
HOURS: Up to 19.5 weekly
WAGE: Begins at $9.00/hour

Position Summary: The Marketing Student Assistant reports directly to and assists the Marketing Coordinator for the Division of Student Engagement. The main goal of the Marketing Student Assistant is to promote attendance and participation at student events hosted by the Division through creative and effective marketing.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Collaborate with departments, student organizations, and other constituents to develop marketing strategies for upcoming events and campaigns
  • Graphic design and photography
  • Use of social media to inform constituents of student events and encourage attendance
  • Use of content management system to create and maintain webpages for departments and special events
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be full-time Lamar University student
  • Must have 2.5 cumulative gpa
  • Must show portfolio of previous design work or marketing projects if selected for interview
  • Skill in Adobe CS including Illustrator and Photoshop and Microsoft Office
  • Exceptional communication skills in speaking, copywriting, emails, etc.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple simultaneous projects
  • Willingness to complete assignments outside the normal scope of marketing and/or design

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Marketing and/or graphic design students preferred
  • Knowledge of best practices in online/social media campaigns and/or ability to learn effective strategies for using relevant social media platforms
  • Skill in OrgSync or similar community management tool
  • Skill in content management systems used to create and maintain wepages
