Advocates will become trained peer educators, sharing knowledge in mental, emotional, social, and physical well-being. Organize and facilitate program initiatives, as well as workshops and prevention campaigns throughout the academic school year. Health Advocates will be responsible for providing student health outreach programs for the general student body. In addition, Advocates will also organize and facilitate awareness campaigns throughout the school year. Comprehensive training provided for the Advocates will help to encourage good mental and physical health. Health Advocates are dedicated to providing education and community support with sensitivity to race, gender, sexual orientation, culture, religion, and individual capabilities.Become part of a skilled, diverse team of students committed to providing truthful, nonjudgmental health information to the Loyola University New Orleans community. Foster teaching, communication, public speaking, and group facilitation skills. Have an opportunity to contribute significantly to the growth of the new Health Advocates program. Gain and share knowledge about sexually transmitted infections, body image, alcohol, tobacco and illegal drugs, eating disorders, nutrition, health promotion theory and practice, men's and women's health, depression, healthy relationships, and stress management.
