Welcome to the University of Auckland Rehabilitative Technologies Association.
The University of Auckland Rehabilitative Technologies Association (UARTA) is a student-led association, whose Executive Committee is composed of a group of enthusiastic PhD Students from the Auckland Bioengineering Institute (ABI) and the department of Mechanical Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at The University of Auckland (UoA). UARTA aims at improving and promoting the pervasiveness of Rehabilitative Technologies to benefit the University-based and local community of the differently abled by decreasing hindrances they experience on a daily basis due to the lack or reduced access to technologies, e.g., to commute to the University or to go working. In achieving the above-mentioned objective, UARTA promotes the application of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects, which lead to the development of real-time technologies for restoring functional abilities in people with different abilities. Therefore, the Board Committee of UARTA believes that the impact of the Association in the society is remarkable towards the social empowerment of the differently abled by raising awareness of rehabilitative technologies that can improve their life.
