Description

What is 'desi'?
Desi (theh-si) is derived from the Sanskrit word "deshi", meaning land or country. It relates to the people and cultures of the South Asian diaspora, including, but not limited to, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Maldives, and Nepal.

What is Desi@Griffith?
It's a society established to support and celebrate our cultural heritage as desi's, and be proud of all that it has to offer. This year, we are aiming to run some great social events, festivals and dance nights that everyone, whether you identify as desi or not, can enjoy.

Who can join Desi@Griffith?
Absolutely EVERYONE! The events we hold will cater for everyone - whether you're there to talk Bollywood for hours, for the exquisite food and great music, or just to make new friends, I can guarantee you'll have a blast.
