2019 Commencement Marshal Application
2019 Commencement Marshal Selection
What do Commencement Marshals do?
Commencement Marshals are an integral part of the graduation ceremony. Marshals lead the graduates’ processional, as they walk into Veterans Stadium at the start of the commencement ceremony. During the ceremony, Marshals cue graduates to receive their diplomas and/or certificates. At the conclusion of the ceremony, students lead graduates out of Veterans Stadium.
Selected Marshals are provided with white graduate gowns (versus the regular black gowns worn by the graduates). Marshals also carry scepters as they lead the graduate processional in and out of Veterans Stadium.
Contestants will be selected thru an interview process that assesses various characteristics including but not limited to: presence, enthusiasm, campus involvement and academic/career goals. Each candidate must prepare a short introductory speech outlining said objectives. Speeches should reflect the personality of the contestant. No props, please.
