The mission of Portland State University Student Chapter of he American Society of Civil Engineers is to promote professional development, provide networking opportunities with engineering professionals, and to have fun while attending school through community outreach, activities, teamwork, social, and professional interaction.
The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) aims to enhance the welfare of humanity through the advancement of professional knowledge and by improving the practice of civil engineering. Founded in 1852, ASCE is America 's oldest national engineering society. ASCE represents more than 146,000 members of the civil engineering profession worldwide.
The Portland State chapter of the ASCE is a group that brings students together with professional engineers to learn more about the career that they are choosing. We do this through lunch and learns on campus, professional tours in the Portland area, and invitations to the professional organization meetings hosted by ASCE groups. We also compete annually in the steel bridge, concrete canoe, and environmental challenge competitions. Our goal is to make to the national competition every year!
